My first trip to Tunisia was a business one, planned down to the hour and meant to last a few days. What I hadn't planned for was the way people opened their homes to a stranger, the light at the end of the afternoon, the sense that nothing here needs to rush. I went back the following month, and then again, until returning stopped being a decision.
Falling in love with a country is easy. Choosing to invest in it is something else. I did both, because I believe travellers deserve to see the Tunisia I was lucky enough to be shown, not the one sold in packages.
